I had a long conversation with a security guard I met inside the park. He told me there are <strong>38 security officers<\/strong> in the park and that security services are provided by ANFA Security.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"justify\">When I stepped into the landscape office inside the park, I was welcomed kindly by the landscape architects responsible for maintenance, and I learned a bit more about the site. It turns out the <strong>entire area used to be a squatter settlement<\/strong>; the stream running through it gradually turned into a swamp, and this place in the center of Ankara was considered something of an embarrassment for the city. Later, all the squatter houses were demolished and this beautiful park was built. The squatters formed an association and started resisting, and the demolitions were halted. This new facility, which will open this summer, completes what the valley has been missing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"The_Extraordinary_Landscape_of_Dikmen_Valley\"><\/span>The Extraordinary Landscape of Dikmen Valley<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"justify\">When evaluating the park, the first thing to notice is that it has such a strong character <strong>even in winter<\/strong>. The main reason they have achieved this is the abundance of evergreen trees. <strong>A good designer should use evergreens generously to prevent a garden from becoming indifferent in winter\u2014so it doesn\u2019t \u201cturn its back on us.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"justify\">This is Phase 1; it started in 1994 and was completed in 2000..<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full is-style-default\"><a href=\"https:\/\/peyzax.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/04\/1-2.jpg\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1600\" height=\"1200\" src=\"https:\/\/peyzax.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/04\/1-2.jpg\" alt=\"Entrance to Dikmen Valley\" class=\"wp-image-6295\" title=\"\"><\/a><figcaption><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"justify\">If you plan to visit Dikmen Valley\u2014located among Ankara\u2019s massive buildings\u2014and walk the entire park, my recommendation is to prepare accordingly, assuming you will spend at least 4\u20135 hours there.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large is-style-default\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"1200\" height=\"900\" src=\"https:\/\/peyzax.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/04\/12-1.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-6279\" title=\"\"><figcaption><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"justify\">The red walkway systems installed in front of the blue-toned Cedrus atlantica (Atlas cedar) and the incredible sound created by water being splashed below have formed an ideal place for helping people relax.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n<p class=\"justify\">Water surfaces and hundreds of fountain systems create a visual feast throughout the valley.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"justify\"><a class=\"rank-math-link\" href=\"http:\/\/peyzax.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/04\/4.jpg\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"1600\" height=\"1200\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-6298\" src=\"http:\/\/peyzax.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/04\/4.jpg\" alt=\"\" title=\"\"><\/a><a class=\"rank-math-link\" href=\"http:\/\/peyzax.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/04\/5.jpg\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1600\" height=\"1200\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-6299\" src=\"http:\/\/peyzax.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/04\/5.jpg\" alt=\"\" title=\"\"><\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"justify\">Wall edges are covered with small stone fragments, and climbers have been used above them. The valley was formed by the flow of the Dikmen Stream. Covering an area of approximately 20 square kilometers, Dikmen Valley is one of the largest valleys in Ankara. The valley is composed of limestone and breccia rocks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"3_Flora_and_Fauna\"><\/span>3. Flora and Fauna<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Dikmen Valley\u2019s vegetation is quite rich. In woodland areas, there are tree species such as oak, plane tree, black pine, and maple. In addition, species such as Scots pine, thyme, rosemary, heather, and similar plants can also be found in the valley. The valley\u2019s fauna diversity should not be underestimated either.
